Anyone who knows me knows I’m a bit obsessed with Swedish candy…

Bulk candy is straight up HUGE here. This selection is actually quite small and lacking in comparison to the neighborhood 7-11. Lösgodis, meaning “Loose Candies”, is a staple of a traveler’s diet while in Sweden… Similar to the bulk candy section of the snacks aisle, this measly little selection here will trump any Safeway, Fred Meyer, or whatever you can think of, back in the states. Bask in it’s glory…

Here we go now… Dubbel Nougat. This is the jam right here. A layer of creamy light nougat rests on top of a bed of near softness dark nougat. In my opinion the king of the mountain of Svenska Godis. Every single time friends have visited Portland from Sweden, this has been my main request. It’s like heroin and Nutella in delightful bar form. Not to be missed…

Not to be discounted is Plopp! Delicious milk chocolate surrounds caramel crafted by decedents of roman and greek gods. Well… maybe not… Apparently Cloetta (from Sweden) merged with Fazer (from Finland) back in 2000 to create Cloetta Fazer AB, but in July of 2008 they split up once again. Cloetta Fazer AB was Scandinavia’s largest candy manufacturer until the split… how can you not take a big ol’ bite outta some Plopp!?!
