04.08.08 New Shop
Well, the move is complete! Goodbye china-town, hello SouthEast. As usual about a million things are going on at once around here. To begin, I’m going to start regularing informing people that our repair shop will be closed from July 4th - August 11th. I will be in Sweden + Finland getting married, eating amazing candy, and possibly dipping down to Africa to check things out. Portland Custom Shop will still be open for sales and such, and the open hours will be updated as the time gets closer. Also right now I’m attempting to finish up this amp for Dave Hernandez of the Shins & Scared of Chaka (congrads on the reunion show!) and trying to quickly build another live amp for Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse for their upcoming tour with R.E.M. (rad!)
Brian Watson will be back from tour next week so I can officially start taking in guitar repairs for him so if anyone out there needs some work done feel free to give us a call or stop by. I’m sure he’s been working real hard on tour settting up everybody’s guitars and acting as my personal marketing manager…
I’m attempting to upgrade the power system for Peter Holmstrom from the Dandy Warhols pedal rig right now… A way bigger project than most people think!
In the next coming weeks we will be working hard at expanding our current pedal inventory, getting our custom hi-end cable setup going, and stocking up on more strings!
Website overhaul is in progress now too… I’ve hired a close friend to handle it as I’m wayyy too busy! This time it should look alot better and have way more info (and working links)
I’m thinking about building some outboard units that recreate the pitch-shifting vibrato effects of the magnatone amps of the 60’s and 70’s (all tube of course!). It seems nobody is really pulling it off and I love challenges. Is anyone interested in such a thing? I’m thinking a magnatone model and a brown fender vibrato model (which is more of a phase-modulated tremelo if you ask me).
I got 1.2billion on Demolition Man pinball, y’all need to start playing pinball when you drop off amps!
