I’m gonna keep this short and sweet until the details are solidified, but here’s the scoop.
Currently we are building a custom amp for Brandon Summers / Helio Sequence. This will be played (Bumbershoot + MFNW in 30 days!) at the same time as his other Soursound amp, which happens to be the very first amp we built back in 2006.
Another first… We’re making more. Three additional units will be for sale.
This build is unlike anything we’ve ever done and it represents a lot for me. Besides the complexity of the design and the magnitude of the build, it’s a symbol of immense personal growth on my behalf. It was quite a bumpy ride getting to where I’m at now, but what’s to come makes it totally worth it.
Did a monster rebuild of a late 50′s Gibson GA-50 yesterday. I’ll get a few more shots up of it when I have a second (read: never). This was one of the multi-section capacitors still left inside. Rotting. Disintegrating. Tearing the club up. I’m sure this exploding wax covered morsel contributed more to ‘the tone’ than one would like to admit. That sweet, pungent, wax covered tone. It smelled bad too… ugh.
On another note (of greater importance), I’m currently restructuring how my website email is sorted, organized, and delivered. It should make getting back to people a million times easier, and quicker as well… the only issue is during this transition I will no doubt lose a few messages along the way. So, if you’ve dropped me a line and feel like I haven’t gotten back to you quick enough, send another. I just started getting some of the message tags to sort on my shop computer and home computer, but something tells me the two are gonna have a battle royale over a few pieces of email and I’m sure one will be yours. Cheers to modern technology!
It’s been a minute since my last website update! A lot of things have happened since summer… Changes, growth, and all the good things that come with a new year.
So where are we at now?
My current in-shop hours are:
Tuesday – Friday 12pm-6pm
Saturdays by appointment only
Please call ahead to talk scheduling on any potential incoming work.
Unfortunately I’ve had to take a brief leave of absence from the shop in order to deal with a family emergency.
Due to this my current repair scheduling will have a 2 week set back. In order to offset this I can’t be accepting new repair work at this time.
Please check back at the end of the month.
Soursound is only taking in vintage and boutique tube amps and tape echoes for repair right now. I’m sorry for the inconvenience but we are currently inundated with work and have to draw the line somewhere. Thanks for understanding.
We’re in the process of updating our current website.
Right now the framework is going up but there won’t be any content… yet. Also things might be a little weird on Internet Explorer. We’ll work on that too.
